yeah done that-it's unfortunate. Not onyl the ignorance but also the actions of some muslims that go against the teachings of rasulullah sallahualaihiwassallam and Quran that give the ignorant fuel to attack islam

Oh it expired :( It is really unfortunate. Like what the khatib was saying today, everyday Islam is getting attacked and what are we doing? nothing. Allahu a'lam what they're going to ban next? May Allah guide us and raise the level of this ummah :(

Ameen.

It's upsetting to see Muslims who add fuel to the fire by supporting a ban. Coming to the realisation that this is not merely an attack on the burqa is essential.

Allahul musta'aan.

I just checked again, and voted. didn't see it the 1st time. Its funny how they consider women with the burqa as "opressed by men". AS IF! This is a country of "freedom", and if the women felt opressed, there's a million things they can do to get their rights. Its all excuses to justify themselves.

The problem we have is more complex than it appears-regardless of what muslims do, ultimately they wil move to ban this and ban that-it's happened in other countries and it's likely to happen. But at the same time we haven't been helping our cause-unfortunately we are having people with muslim names going out and doing this and that that just adds fuel to the hatred that already exists among these people-practices involving robbery, business rorting etc, they're all condemned in the teachings of islam but people still do it-the sulphur dioxide(forget the exact gas used) and robbery are examples. There can be rhetoric regarding the burqa but doing this sort of stuff just gives them excuses to pass legislation(although they would have found some other way anyway). But at least we should be doing our part to keep a clean slate-they'll be accountable for what they do but we need to get our act together. we can blame them, but if we remain blind to what some bad eggs in our community are doing we won't be making much progress.

We may complain about a lack of leadership etc but the leader comes from among the people and if the people don't attempt to change then what hope is there for a leader to lead muslims out of the doldrums, oppression etc. Unfortunately at the grass roots level, people are still doing what they did-and it's a cultural thing perhaps, nothing related to islam but it just makes it easier for the media to brand us the way they do. Ahmed deedat's the choice has a good quote regarding dead wood on the ship of islam which i think is becoming more and more applicable as we reach the day of judgement-i hope allah swt saves us and makes us better so we as individuals can at least perfrom our duties as muslims because as a collective there will be people whose actions will let us down

Funny that even before france a majority muslim country like turkey had imposed bans on the hijab. We' ve been shooting ourselves in addition to them shooting us

WOW mashallah!! I really want to witness someone convert, just watch them saying the shahada. Beautiful.

it was quite awesome-we were leaving when we saw a group of people sitting down so we went to see and he was converting-the sheikh explained to him that he had to convert out of free will not for any material rewards etc explained the shadah in english-then he took the shahada in english then in arabic and everyone pretty much mobbed him lol-he broke down, was crying and everything-as you would on such a momentous occasion-inshallah to be on track from being saved from jahannam, bigger than anything. There was a brief takbir as well. what a day to convert as well-on jumuah

It was good though because in the khutbah the sheikh highlighted the fact we were going to jumuah and not parking properly, disrupting our non-muslim neighbours etc and the overall lack of following of rules by some muslims and how it is a part of iman to be considerate of others and then there was something good at the end of it all. We shouldn't be disobeying allah swt before we go to jumuah itself.Plus peopleturning up late to the khutbah or talking during the khutbah-this is something widespread, people turn up late, greet others during khutbah the other person replies and both their jumuah are null and void.

We've had quite a few convert at our masjid-this was the first one i saw face to face. His brother was there too-his brother had converted a year earlier as far as i recall because his brother was mashallah making i'tekaf last year
